Mauerstreifen / Strip of Wall
More than 30 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall, this photo film documentation along the length of former course of the Wall, investigates the rapid changes of the restricted border area. Construction sites or, in the intervening period, new settlements have been created on fallow land.
The formerly divided Berlin appears also to have grown back together for a considerable length of time. Can visible traces of the division still be found?
In the city centre, the Berlin Wall Trail is for the most part marked by a double series of cobble stones. These pavement stripes sometimes give the street scene a confusing aspect. The photo documentation of different places in Berlin presents; before; after and currently in the period from 1989 to 2018. The photos I have used for years of 1989 and 1990 are from the archive of Thomas Endter.
